Bridging Distance has over 25 years of experience working with organizations to anticipate upcoming problems that require new solutions.

The COVID-19 pandemic offered a unique lens to examine and rewire how organizations adapted their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies. To quickly understand the impact of moving from fully in-person to remote, Bridging Distance re-reviewed 2019 evidence-based research on digital isolation and loneliness with organizations across the globe to compare pre-pandemic to the pandemic. The pandemic highlighted employees and leaders who worked together at the same location, such as in an office, are more likely to feel included among their peers and less likely to experience isolation. However, the work of understanding isolation and loneliness is not complete, and we are seeking organizations to participate in our next research initiative.

More research is necessary to understand how to leverage current DEI strategies for models of inclusion and sense of belonging. What are the parallels between DEI and Remote Work, regarding individual’s ability to add value and feel included? Specifically, where can organizations combine aspects of these strategies to maximize resources?

Our research will help leaders develop inclusive practices that foster a greater sense of employee belonging, increase talent retention and employee satisfaction, and enhance creativity, innovation, and productivity.

Commitment

The investment your company will make varied.  Our research consists of:

  • Interviewing up to 12 team members individually for 30 minutes 

  • Observations of remote/hybrid team meetings (3-4 sessions)

  • Online confidential survey for each team member

We will conduct this research between 2/8/22 and 4/29/22, scheduled to accommodate your availability.
